The Shores are celebrating the birth of their child and are announcing its birth. It includes the birthdate as well as the weight/size of the child. They are sending out postcards because they cannot use the phone to call people back in the 1920's due to the scarcity of phones at the time so they resorted to using a postcards as their primary means of spreading the word that they recently had a baby.
