May Day Pageant (Group E)
On May 4th, 1925 the Florida State College for Women hosted its May Day Pageant subtitled "Forward! Womanhood!" The pageant was performed by the University's Open Air Theatre. The pageant is a showcase of all the roles that women can fufill and exceed expecations. The showcase explores the different stages of womanhood and the history behind it. The different topics are split into episodes with each epidsode covering a specific portion of history and how it relates to womanhood.
When Florida State University was Florida State College for Women, the spirit of Odd-Even was predominant in college life. The House of Odds stands for the class of students that were graduating on an odd number year and each year these students hosted a May Day Pageant to crown that year's King and Queen.
The May Coronation was an annual celebration held in the gardens outside of Bryan Hall. The coronation was much like a performance featuring indiuvuals taking on different roles such as jester,prince, and villagers. The ceremony sees that the Queen is escorted in by Knights and her attendants.
The Queens Attendants featured were: Mary Louise Dickenson, Bertha Dickson, Florence Harvey, and Beth Hammergren.
